​As a result of researchers’ and scientists’ increasing interest in pure as well as applied mathematics in non-conventional models, particularly those using fractional calculus, Mittag-Leffler functions have recently caught the interest of the scientific community. Focusing on the theory of the Mittag-Leffler functions, the present volume offers a self-contained, comprehensive treatment, ranging from rather elementary matters to the latest research results. In addition to the theory the authors devote some sections of the work to the applications, treating various situations and processes in viscoelasticity, physics, hydrodynamics, diffusion and wave phenomena, as well as stochastics. In particular the Mittag-Leffler functions allow us to describe phenomena in processes that progress or decay too slowly to be represented by classical functions like the exponential function and its successors.

About the Author

R. Gorenflo. In 1960, he received his doctorate in Karlsruhe for work on entire transcendental functions. Starting in 1974 he served as a Professor at the Free University Berlin, where he retired in 1998, remaining an active researcher. Since the 1960s he has been actively interested in fractional integral equations and diffusion problems, leading him to a close collaboration with F. Mainardi and other researchers, focusing on fractional differential equations and related special functions, with a particular emphasis on modeling physical processes. His list of publications comprises more than 170 research articles and two monographs.

A.A. Kilbas (1948-2010). Graduated at the Belarusian State University in Minsk in 1971, where he received his PhD and Doctor of Sciences degrees before becoming a Professor. A.A. Kilbas was a world-known scientist whose contributions to the theory of integral equations, fractional integro-differentiation, fractional differential equations, integral transforms and special functions are highly regarded by the mathematical community. He was the author of more than 300 research articles and 6 monographs.

F. Mainardi. In 1966 he graduated with a degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Bologna, where he took an advanced degree and continues to serve as a Professor of Mathematical Physics. He is the author of two books, has served as the editor of several compilations and has produced more than 150 research articles in Applied Mathematics, Continuum Mechanics, Wave Motion, Fractional Calculus and Stochastic Processes.

S.V. Rogosin. Graduated from the Belarusian State University in Minsk in 1974, where he later received his PhD. His research interests concern boundary value problems, complex analysis, integral equations and fractional calculus and their applications in continuous media mechanics. He is the author of two books, more than 100 research papers, has been the co-organizer of several international conferences and the editor of various compilations.

After brief coverage of safety, tools, and wood, Broun arranges 32 woodworking techniques, such as gluing, clamping, measuring, finishing, fretwork, and types of joinery, in alphabetical order and devotes two to four pages of explanatory text to each. For example, the skill of chiseling and the tools it requires are briefly described, and the entire process is illustrated with 12 color photographs. The book closes with 40 pages of color photographs of mostly modern furniture (e.g., chests, tables, chairs, and knick-knacks), along with short comments on each item. The photographs are top notch, and the text is well written and concise. Unfortunately, the beginning woodworker will probably need far more help than this volume offers, while those with experience will not find much new.

Excellent User Manual of the Sony A7RII!

In this excellent publication most aspects of the new Sony A7RII camera are very systematically presented, discussed and explained in a professional way, and in an easy to understand manner.
It is amazing to see how the author managed to collect and present very extensive sometimes complicated information in an easy to use format!
A very well set up index makes it easy to find answers to most questions, whereby finding and selecting information in the e-book version is very easy.
I purchased the color printed version and the e-book.

In my view the book version is graphically not well set up and printed.
The page format is too small and the binding too inflexible for a book to contain +630 pages.
Also the paper stock used is in my view too heavy and not of perfect quality to print full color illustrations.
As a consequence its difficult to handle this book while reading and the color reproductions are, contrary to the ones in the e-book, too often of poor quality.
I wonder whether there is a need for such an expensive (+$100) printed full color version?
Anybody who wants to enjoy the A7RII to its full will find a great help in the e-book edition.

Top Notch Book

I am frequently disappointed with reference books I buy, but not this time! I purchased "The Complete Guide to Sony's A7RII" from Gary Friedman.

The book is carefully written and includes a technical perspective that is very helpful in understanding real world use of the camera and associated gear. Gary also provides free revisions to the book that improve content and keep the material up-to-date.

Gary has also provided comprehensive answers to questions I have emailed him. His products, in total, are the best of the best and highly recommended!

About the Author
Dan Rhode is an accomplished teacher who has taught ceramics since 1991. He has helped create and develop several pottery programmes at schools, community centres, and universities. He was the director of an Associate of Arts degree programme in sculpture and pottery at Central Carolina Community College in North Carolina and has managed three other non-degree programmes. He ran his own successful pottery business, Pittsboro Pottery, in North Carolina, for 10 years, but has recently moved to England and currently runs his pottery business from his studio at home.

Wish I had this book when I was starting to work with clay

I've been working with clay for over 30 years, and this book would be a valuable guide for anyone from beginner to the more advanced student. Even if you already know a lot about the material, this book has something for you. Clay bodies, hand building, wheel throwing, glaze mixing, kiln firing, studio set-up, resources, and much more, all explained in a way that is easy to understand and follow. I love it that this book is chock-full of helpful hints, you know--those (important) little details that are usually left out of a complicated process. I especially like the glaze sections. I've read plenty of glaze books and it can be very complicated, but Dan has managed demystify the process and all that chemistry stuff in a way that I have not seen in other books. Heck, I even finally understood some things that that I felt I never fully understood!

Full disclosure: Along with many other wonderful clay artists, my ceramic work is featured in this book. But I would still be saying all this even if I my images where not in this book, and I do not receive one penny from any sales. By the way, this book is full of great photos of all kinds of clay art and pottery, showing step by step visual instructions for a of a number of processes. The wheel throwing lessons are explained very well with tons of pictures. I will be recommending this book to all levels of students learning clay, and it is a welcome addition to my library.

Thorough, accessible, well-rounded.

This is a great book. With tons of useful information and guidance, it covers a very wide spectrum of information without being dry or vague. The sections on glaze chemistry and calculation are especially well done, which is a rarity in this type of book. The author is obviously a seasoned teacher, and manages to engage the reader in subjects that might otherwise seem difficult or obscure, but instead are made approachable and interesting. Well done.

I know for a fact that there is a lot of heart and soul and hardwork and dedication inside of this book! Dan Rhode is an amazing teacher - now he's an amazing author! It's informative and affordable - perfect for us potters - and great for students as well! My library is now complete :)
