The best buy ever

Excellent story! I read this book to my 5 year old daughter last week - now it's her new favorite possession! Even my older girls enjoyed it. Not only is the story filled with imagination and humor, but it holds a valuable lesson for little ones. This is a large book with colorful illustrations, delightfully capturing emotions throughout. A great family story written by a passionate mother. Ms. Mahalik wrote this story and also illustrated it all on her own. She is a talented creative writer that has written an enjoyable family story based on her professional and family experiences. This book can be read and enjoyed by everyone. My whole family has read it (kids, parents, aunts, uncles, etc.) and found it very entertaining.

Ages 2-4. "Bless my window opened wide / Bless the creatures who live outside." With simple chant and bright oil paintings, a bedtime ecological prayer connects a child in his room with all the animal life on the planet: in the forest and the ocean, in ponds and on plains. Insects receive only grudging inclusion ("even the bugs . . . even the ones with really small brains"), but that may be to force the rhyme. The playful pictures in big circular frames show all kinds of creatures, from elephants and hyenas to dogs and birds ("trumpeters, yappers, crowers and yowlers"), which the boy knows are there as he curls up in bed with his cat in his cozy room. The chant is nondenominational, as much lullaby as blessing, and young children will enjoy identifying the animals, the sounds they make, the places they live, and the connections between us all through the night. Bless This House

Leslie Staub has written a creative nondenominational bedtime prayer book for young children. Its rhyming rhythm celebrates all that is near and dear to a child's heart, everything from its home, family, nature, and all God's creatures are seen from the open window of the child's bedroom. Children can always find something to be grateful about, and the simple text in the book helps all the young readers to make that feeling possible. The illustrations are done from the child's perspective of looking out the bedroom window. The author/illustrator uses bright oil colors to achieve keen sense of outdoors and Mother Earth.

Since purchasing this book a month ago, my 18 month old daughter has requested every night before bed (and in the morning, a few hours later, mid-afternoon-- ALL THE TIME!). Each time we read it, we discover something new in the illustrations. We like to sing the words to the tune of "Tis A Gift to Be Simple" and come up with our own lyrics too.

My Children's Favorite

This book was given to me at a baby shower and little did I know that four years later it would be tattered and worn from all of the love shown to it! We read this book every night before bed and my 2 and 4 year old kids have it memorized. I even had to record them. It is a darling prayer to hear from their lips.

Chock full of useful information for movie producers & film fans

The Producer's Guide is a very good introduction to various aspects of the movie business and what film production entails (from a business standpoint). It gives a very good overview of such things as distribution channels, the various ancillary income streams associated with a movie (theatrical, home video, broadcast, etc) and the act of actually getting a movie made (including all-important financing). It's pretty authoritative, coming from Variety Magazine, but the narrative sometimes gets a bit dry and overly businesslike, so it's not a consistently smooth read. Notwithstanding, if you are even mildly curious about what producing a film entails from start to finish, and how the movie distribution business functions, you're likely to come away with a significant amount of very useful information.

The Producer's Business Handbook, Third Edition: The Roadmap for the Balanced Film Producer

Much like I have been saying in other reviews about books I have read recently about different aspects of filmmaking this may be the best book on the subject. This is one of the most informative books I have ever read on producing, honestly like others are saying about this book it should be what is taught in film schools. This is some of the best stuff I have ever read, honestly this book is supremely helpful and insightful. Page to page and chapter to chapter this book is excellent. I recommend you pick this up immediately if you want to make a movie or are interested in this type of stuff.

This book covers everything from the producer's business stand point in every aspect that one could think of. From getting financing to handling it to spending it to marketing all the way to the theatrical runs and stuff. Now a lot of the numbers and stuff in here could be confusing, notice how I said could be because in most books there are just that. The authors here have did a marvelous job making this not only easy to read but easy to understand. They break everything down and present it in the simplest terms and even include charts and visual stuff like that. They even breakdown what production companies and studios do and what they are meant for, it really is an excellent read.

If you are interested in filmmaking I highly recommend this book because it really is that helpful and easy to read. This is a great book that really is very helpful and very insightful, go pick it up. Honestly I really am happy I got this book as I am on my second read through, just to read it again. Steve Allen's humor has never been equaled. Always the thinking man's comedian, Allen had a heart, mind and funny bone. The cover photo of the sole paperback edition is taken from Allen's syndicated 1968-69 Filmways talk and variety show (which heavily influenced a generation of Baby Boomer humorists such as David Letterman) although the contents predate it. A delightful collection of Allen's humor and commentary on television. If you are an Allen fan, this is probably his best humor book.

The book helped me get over a hard time

My Grandfather named Bob, recently past away, and during the funeral, this enchanting book was read. Not only did it bring smiles of joy, yet smiles of sadness, but tears to grown men. Every member of my family now owns a copy of the book, and every time we seem sad about him passing away, we remember "Just Bob was there". I believe this book is not only for children, but adults as well, and everyone should read it.

A Snowman Named Just Bob is a wonderful story of lasting friendship. True friendship is forever in your heart, and is such a great gift. The artwork is beautiful and the story filled with meaning. I know people of all ages will enjoy this book. A treasure for all.

I told my children I was buying this book for them. But, I really bought it for myself. It is a wonderful story for everyone.The illustrations are very cute. A "must have" for anyone who adores snowmen.
