In addition to many grammatical errors, topics are jumbled between sections and chapters. The author will often talk about a subject, move on to something else, and then say "Oh wait! I just had a thought about that section you were reading 5 minutes ago."

Simple concepts are afforded exhaustive explanations and examples, while complex, jargon-riddled topics are glossed over without enough explanation.

The text is also very dry, and often uses the passive voice. There are no images to compliment the boring passages, and diagrams are few and far between.

That brings me to my next point. This book is offered in a "kindle edition" as a "replica." which means that you can buy a digital copy, but you can't read it on your Kindle device. Upon chatting with Amazon, they said it is up to the author/publisher to say whether a textbook can be adapted to the Kindle devices. "Replica" texts are often very specifically formatted with pictures, images, graphs, and sometimes interactive content. When I heard this I expected an exciting book, but this book is far from exciting, and doesn't even have complex formatting. The author/publisher just want to be able to charge more for their hardcover.

Needs Some Proofreading

This book is a more tedious read than it needs to be because of a plethora of grammatical errors. The ill-placed comma on page 152, for example ("Finally, the communication structure or network, developed in the group impacts information flows among group members."), is the kind of thing that makes you stop and re-read the sentence a few times to make sure you extracted the correct meaning. There seem to be a lot of similar mistakes. I was required to buy this text for a course I was required to take. Since I wasn't looking forward to the course, my attention span and patience was short enough to begin with; this book is not helping.

If your child likes Minecraft these books are a must. My teenage son is not a big reader, but the books by this author he has read many times and keeps asking me when the next one is coming out. I am a fourth grader named Lyla and I really recommend this book because it is full of imagination and Herobrine's monsters. On the quest through the treacherous jungle, Gameknight999, Monet113, and their NPC friend's, no, family have to battle huge waves of monsters Herobrine sent, including the spider queen and Herobrine, the Maker, himself. Does Gameknight and his impulsive sister have what it takes to meet the great Oracle and face Herobrine's bright, white, glowing eyes?

This is not one of Lindauer's books. He has a 2012 Macroeconomics Text in e-book, paperback, and hardback that is far superior and easy to read and understand than most.  This is not it.

About the Author
Born in New York City, Robert Barro moved to Los Angeles, where he studied undergraduate physics at Caltech, including classes from the famous Richard Feynman. He changed his focus to economics for graduate school at Harvard University. Dr. Barro returned to Harvard as a professor in 1987. He recently served as president of the Western Economic Association and vice president of the American Economic Association. In addition to academic research, Professor Barro is an accomplished writer for the popular press. He worked as a viewpoint columnist for BUSINESSWEEK from 1998 to 2006 and contributing editor of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL from 1991 to 1998.

A MUST-HAVE FOR ANY SERIOUS MUSIC STUDENT

A thorough, thoughtful and fun book written for music students but also very helpful for teachers, too. If you know anyone considering majoring in music, this would make the perfect gift - just in time for the holidays! I only wish that this book was available back when I was in high school...

Fantastic, fun how-to guide for all music students

Bonnie Blanchard continues her stellar series (Music For Life) with this new book: "Making Music and Having a Blast: A Guide for all Music Students". It is especially written for teen-age students, but will be great for everyone from novice to expert, and for their teachers as well. It is loaded with real-life examples on how to reach your goals. Whether your instrument is cello, voice, electric bass, piccolo or anything else, you have to know how to work effectively and how to have fun along the way. This book (which includes a chapter written by Ms. Blanchard's students) will help you reach your goals faster, and it shows you how to master technique and develop confidence. It is full of details about how to practice, understand music theory, sight read, memorize, conquer stage fright, decide about a musical career, keep going when the going is tough, get along with your parents and competing students, get into top music schools, and much much more. As indicated on the cover by violinist Gil Shaham, conductor Gerard Schwartz, and educator Sean Covey, it is a unique, entertaining, inspiring, fantastic book that deserves a standing ovation.

A Great Book for Your Teen Musician

A fantastic book for any teen who is interested in pursuing his/her music interests. Musician, teacher and author, Bonnie is my daughter's flute teacher who, in addition to becoming a beloved part of my daughter's life, is known nationally for her teaching techniques and her first book for music teachers, Making Music and Enriching Lives. Bonnie's flute students inevitably stay with her through high school, assume the majority of flute seats in the Seattle Youth Symphony, and often go onto receive university music scholarships or attend music conservatories. The book is also for kids who may not want to become that serious but just want to make music a bigger part of their lives, whatever their instrument. It has chapters on how to know whether to take group or private lessons, how to choose a music teacher, tips for purchasing an instrument, putting concerts and contests into perspective, and even how to deal with "helpful" parents or survive braces! Just wanted to pass along what might be a great gift idea for a budding musician. My daughter has her nose in this book all the time!
